Joint-Lab NLP Readings
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss
Why Meet?
Reading peer-reviewed articles is the (second) best way to understand the research process. We learn what constitutes a viable research question, how to communicate results to any audience, when and why research may fail to follow the scientific method, etc., all while learning more about our specific fields. Our group focuses on peer-reviewed papers in the fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Translation (MT), and the general intersection of technology and language.
DRAGN Labs, the MATRIX Lab (MT), and Dr. Seppi’s Lab (NLP) arrange and lead meetings in rotation with frequent visitors from around campus, including linguistics, ACME, HCI and more. Those interested are welcome to attend! Meetings are held in the James E. Talmage Building on campus in room TMCB 2208 (second floor, west side of the building). We meet every other week, announcing papers one week before they are discussed.
Fall 2024 Schedule
Every other Monday at 4:00 PM, beginning on September 30th.
Found an Interesting Paper?
Have you read a cool paper recently? Please submit it using the Google Form below as a possible group reading. We prefer that those who submit papers lead the discussions, so we ask that you put in your name as well. If you would like to be exempt from leading the discussion, please note it in the form.
Scheduling Note: The date and time that the meetings are held changes on a semester basis decided by those who regularly attend meetings.
